Kerala Technology Innovation Zone,Kochi

Government of Kerala is establishing the Kerala Technology Innovation Zone, a global innovation incubator hub for many technology sectors under an umbrella. The zone will create world class infrastructure facilities for multi sector technology incubators to incubate their start-ups and to support home grown enterprises.

Kerala Technology Innovation Zone is envisioned as a one stop shop for technology innovation, where everything from the consolidating of the idea, to its incubation, acceleration, to mentor support for setting up a successful enterprise and even a squadron of angel investors ready to invest in a bankable idea is present. The TIZ acts as a self-sustained ecosystem which serves all the interests of the young innovators and entrepreneurs. Moreover, TIZ will host a vast umbrella of sectors under one physical location. This will encourage cross sector cooperation which can lead to innovative new products that can be used for the social good.

Each sector such as ICT, Electronics, IoT, Robotics, Biotech and other vibrant industries, will be a separate incubator vertical, with a dedicated infrastructure and support system from KSUM for that vertical. The zone will also hold separate research facilities for different sectors. These facilities will actually spearhead the innovation process that happens in the zone. Dedicated areas will be provided for angel investors and other interested parties in the zone who are interested in investing in any of the sectors.


KTIZ is being established in the 13.2 acres of land at KINFRA Hitech Park, Kalamasserry.The Zone comprise of built-up start up modules, hi-end fabrication labs, R & D lab facilities, commercial office spaces, dormitories, SOHOs, malls etc.


Presently the zone comprises following incubators:

  1. A generic incubator operated by KSUM

  2. Maker Village

    Maker Village The Electronics Incubator is a joint initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY), Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala (IIITM K) and Kerala Startup Mission to promote consumer electronics based innovation and to set up labs & innovation centres that focus on the current trend and emerging technologies of disruptive nature.   3. BIONEST

    Bionest The Biotech Incubation Centre is operated by the KRIBS, a society formed between Kerala Startup Mission & Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology. It comprise incubation spaces for Biotech start-ups, R & D Lab and all other facilities necessary for biotech startups to kick start their operations. The major objective of KRIBS is to foster the development of technology to be used in the advancement of mankind and to provide an environment that fosters creativity in biotechnology.More Details

KTIZ will create a total built up area of approx.5 Lakhs sq.ft facilities. The infrastructure for KTIZ will be built in different Phases. Currently Phase I is nearing completion and it comprise of 10K Building with an overall Built up area of 12,000sq. ft., BIONEST with a Built up area of 42,000sq. ft and Office Plaza Building with a Built up area of 1,90,000sq. ft which is under construction.

Phase II will be an expansion of 3,50,000.sqft which comprise of Building 1, 2 & 3.

  1. Building 1 has two wings; Wing A provides avenues for international conferences, tech expos, workshops conducted by industrial leaders and incubation spaces; Wing B provides housing, residential SOHO & Dorms.
  2. Building 2 is for small offices and incubation spaces with retail & other amenities.
  3. KSUM has signed an MOU with Software Technology Park of India for the construction & operation of Building 3 which will be built in the 1.2 acres of land within the Zone. This space would be allotted for incubators and scaling up companies that creates a complete ecosystem for new generation entrepreneurs.
