Palakkad Incubation Center for Startups and Mini Fab Lab Launched

In the Kerala Information Technology Policy of the State it has been announced that more equipped space for startups shall be provided. The Kerala Startup Mission, the nodal agency of the State Government in the technology start-up sector, has been continuously taking steps to increase the availability of state of the art infrastructure for the startups.

 The Kerala Startup Mission has been sanctioned approval for supporting incubation infrastructure across the state. Under this scheme, the Government polytechnic college has provided space for the establishing incubation and mini-fab lab. The Palakkad Incubation Center for Startup has been setup in this context for which KSUM has signed an MoU on November 15, 2018. The college has provided 5000 square feet of space for setting up an incubation center and mini-fab lab. The total cost of the project is around Rs 1 crore and the procurement of the Mini Fab Lab equipment was around Rs. 25 lakhs. The incubation center has reserved 20% of the space for students and the fablab comprises of machines like Laser cutter, vinyl plotter, mini CNC milling machine, 3D printer and Safety tools. 

Now, Palakkad has become the sixth district in the country to have direct functioning of the Kerala Startup Mission. Steps are being taken to expand its activities to other districts as well.
