Samagra Shiksha Kerala has partnered with Kerala Startup Mission to set up and run Centres for Early Innovation across Kerala. This project is part of the World Bank-aided centrally sponsored STARS scheme, which aims to promote STEM education in schools and create a culture of tinkering and making.
KSUM intends to publish a library of DIY classroom projects to aid teachers in the delivery of key concepts in physics, chemistry, biology and maths in the classrooms. Through these projects, every student will get to see the potential of digital fabrication and interact with various machines in the lab.
About The Role
STEM Project Creators will play the role of subject matter experts and work with the Fab Lab team and editors to craft simple, hands-on projects that are fun, easy to build and spark curiosity among students. Based on the domain (Physics, Mechanical, or Electronics) of choice, the STEM Project Creators will be responsible for conceptualising, prototyping, and documenting hands-on activities that can be used by teachers as classroom aids or during tinkering sessions.
No of Positions: 3 ( 1 each in Physics , Mechanical and Electronics )
Responsibilities:
- Identify or conceptualise STEM projects that align with the learning outcomes.
- Design projects that can serve as teaching aids for educators to explain core concepts from the NCERT/SCERT syllabus, and in alignment with NEP.
- Break down complex theoretical concepts into modular, graded activities designed to effectively engage students using machines & tools in Tinkering labs.
- Develop content that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem solving, particularly in physics, electronics, and emerging technologies
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, or Education.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in at least one of the following
designing/developing hardware projects
- STEM education programs or maker lab training modules.
- Ability to design creative, hands-on projects from textbook concepts.
- Familiarity with digital fabrication tools, electronics/mechanical components, and the maker movement.
- Age – Below 35 Years as of 01/01/2025
Desired Skills:
- Basic proficiency in tools like Google Docs, Canva, and CAD etc.
- Interest in education innovation, low-cost design, and inclusive pedagogy.
- Experience in developing or delivering practical STEM activities or teaching aids.
- Collaborative approach to working with teachers, experts, and tech teams.
- Patience and perseverance for follow-ups and refining outputs through iterations.
- Passion for developing inclusive, accessible STEM education.
Salary & Other Benefits:
Monthly Salary – Rs. 25000/-
In addition to the salary, there will be allowances and reimbursement as per KSUM policies.
