Kerala Startup Mission operates a state-wide network of FabLabs to support startups, innovators, and entrepreneurs through advanced prototyping and product development facilities. These labs play a vital role in fostering innovation and creating pathways for real-world fabrication.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Assistant to support the daily operations of our FabLabs and assist in coordinating with vendors, customers, and external fabrication partners. This position is essential in maintaining operational continuity and supporting the technical team to ensure the smooth execution of fabrication projects.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the local sourcing of materials and manage relationships with suppliers and fabrication vendors
Assist with on-site project deployments, data acquisition, and field-level coordination
Manage procurement processes, including delivery and shipment of fabricated parts and materials
Act as a bridge between the FabLab and external partners to ensure timely and high-quality project fulfilment
Maintain accurate documentation and follow-ups for all assigned operational tasks
Provide support during urgent lab operations, including availability on occasional weekends or holidays when required

Experience and Skills

ITI or Diploma or degree in Mechanical / Machining
Minimum one year of work experience in similar activities.
Understanding of both manual and digital fabrication techniques (e.g., CNC machining, 3D printing, laser cutting, etc.)
Strong skills in coordination, problem-solving, and clear communication
Ability to work independently and manage logistical tasks effectively
Experience in handling vendor interactions and technical coordination
Relevant educational background in a technical or fabrication-related field
Practical experience gained through work, training, or internships in similar environments
Familiarity with fabrication labs, industrial workshops, or technical training programs is an advantage
Dependable, detail-oriented, and proactive in day-to-day operations
Adaptable to changing project needs and timelines
A collaborative mindset with a strong willingness to learn and grow within a technical team.
