Job Description

KSUM is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated intern with a strong interest in manufacturing processes, precision machining, and digital fabrication to contribute to FabLab Kerala. The candidate should be a team player with a strong learning aptitude and a passion for working with advanced manufacturing tools and techniques. The intern will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing FabLab research projects.

Area of exposure

Operate and maintain various machines, including CNC mills, sheet-metal tools, laser cutters, lathes, water jets, and wire EDM systems.
Interpret CAD models and engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance specifications.
Perform machining, assembly, finishing, and quality inspection of parts.
Assist in equipment setup, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
Document processes and contribute to workflow or process improvements.
Ensure safety compliance and maintain an organised workspace.
Collaborate with the team on fabrication and research projects.

Experience and Skills

ITI, Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or relevant experience.
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and technical drawing interpretation.
Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Basic hands-on experience in machining and finishing processes.
Good communication and teamwork skills
